Rested and ready for 2019
Thanks to the generosity of my in-laws, we got out of Dodge for a few days.
The holiday madness wasn’t too bad this year, but I find it difficult to switch gears from family to career even when the opportunity’s there. Finally I took a hint, set aside the five-year-plan stress and refocused on the present. We celebrated my in-laws’ 25th wedding anniversary in a nice sunny spot on the beach.
And it helped: although we’re back to gray skies, I’m still fairly relaxed from the sun and art journaling. Now I’m looking forward to the next stop on the “Like Mother…” traveling exhibit, which opens at the end of this month. In the meantime, I’ll ask the art world experts I know to help me chart my course forward.
Wake up! It's a new year!
Now that I'm (mostly) recovered from my New Year's celebrations, it's time to get crackin' on 2016. I got a little work done in the last hours of 2015...
... and I'm looking forward to sharing my progress on the Great Mystery Project (GMP) throughout the year. I'm also looking forward to more Artist Trust At Large presentations, starting with a conversation on marketing your art on January 12th (RSVP here)

and possibly a group show in Portland -- we'll see... Rest up: we've got a busy year ahead!
Taking things further
Lately, I find myself stopping just short of my destination, when I'm driving on autopilot. No, you didn't miss the turn, Lisa. You didn't go far enough.
This tendency, this excess of caution, is starting to bother me.
Even so, this year was by far my most productive, as an artist:
- I completed ten new works, mostly collages and altered books
- I made new contacts and friends with the help of the Artist Trust professional development program
- I exhibited at a museum and at a convention center simultaneously
But I need to go further, in 2015.
I have a few irons in the fire:
I'm cautiously (I know, I know) optimistic about the year ahead. Keep me company on my journey, will you?
