I am a visual artist working in collage, assemblage sculpture and altered books. My practice explores identity, memory and the history of the African diaspora. Vintage and contemporary images collide to convey how the past informs the present.

BAMignite Photo Contest: it's not too late

Have you entered the BAMignite Photo Contest yet? You still have a few hours left!
Artwork: "Self-Portrait," Jo Hamilton
The contest celebrates elements of the Bellevue Arts Museum biennial exhibit "High Fiber Diet." I'm so proud of myself: I only waited until a day before the deadline to enter this and one other photo.
The deadline is tomorrow, so here are the details:

  • Choose a photo that illustrates one of four themes: Paper Cuts, Threads, Twisted, or Made in My Town.
  • Go to the Facebook contest page to submit the photo (you can do as many as four).
  • BAM! You're done.

All the photos will be projected during the BAMignite art party next Friday, November 16th. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go, but I'm definitely looking forward to finding out who the five contest winners are -- especially, of course, the Paper Cuts theme winner.

It's free and it's fun. Let me know which photos you're entering!
