Lisa Myers Bulmash, artist in action
You know you can find me on Facebook, but when’s the last time you saw me there on someone else’s feed?
I’m partnering with Blick Art Materials as a guest artist! This week, I showed viewers how to make a gel skin image transfer for use in a collage. Guest artists do a live technique demonstration on Thursdays at 4pm CST at the Blick Creative Community page. If you’d like to see me live the next time, just ask to join the group. In the meantime… enjoy!
The perfect Mother's Day experience
I have high hopes for a perfect Mother’s Day experience this weekend. I expect to be pampered on Sunday, as is my annual reward for having birthed two enormous babies. And — AND! — Saturday will be World Collage Day!
Since 2018, Kolaj Magazine has invited people to celebrate the art form on the second Saturday in May. (You can download this year’s poster for free.) There are tons of live collage events to participate in on five of the seven continents, at least three events just in my state. And since most are online, you really can choose an international collage experience.
No worries if you’re just now learning about World Collage Day: celebrate in your own time by ordering a special-edition packet that includes the magazine plus other collage goodness. Of course, I may have a bit of a head start here; how about you? Please tag me on social media so I can see and share your collages!
Taking flight: new class, new work
I promised you altered books last week, and today I can show you full views. But first… butterflies.
Artist Carla Sonheim and I are going to do a short and easy tutorial in her online art lesson series “Bugs! An Online Class for Kids.” If you’re grown and you wanna play too, ignore that “class for kids” bit — Carla’s made room for adults too. Carla’s a rock star in the mixed media art world, having written books and taught classes at the much-missed Artfest retreat.

That’s one reason I’d strongly suggest you sign up for “Collaging Your Own Butterfly” sooner rather than later. The class goes live on Thursday, October 22. Meanwhile, I haven’t forgotten about you altered book folks! Here are full views of my most recent pieces: “Leave or Remain”…
… and “Now Boarding.”
By the way… you could’ve seen these two works last week. I made sure to show my subscribers right away. If you don’t want to miss out on the next first-look, sign up to receive my weekly posts.
