Retreat! (Art) retreat!
I'm still working on a few more pieces to be ready for Best of the Northwest...
"Waterfront Evolution," image transfer collage @Lisa Myers Bulmash.
... but I'm actually going to bring stuff down to Portland for a short break. I'm road-tripping down with my girl Alicia Harvey to Art Party Portland, organized by my pal Amy Duncan. Kinda funny... the anxiety I might feel leaving town before an art festival is tempered by working with other artists. See you soon!
Work-in-progress: almost finished altering the books
The end is in sight. I've cut open the covers of these altered books...
Just have to add the frames, tear the front niches and place the images I've painted recently.
I decided to pair the messenger cyclist with my little reader and her hiker friend.
Remember the travelers and their caravan from my Instagram feed?
They're the lead-in to this scene of an old man teaching little boys, as the sun rises behind them.
My goal is to finish all three by the end of the weekend... I may need your encouragement to get over the finish line, though. On Monday, ask me on Facebook if I've completed them.
Artist Trust At Large: the next step
I'm pretty sure Artist Trust and I helped ignite a few creative fires and connections this week!
Although the presentations are open to artists of all disciplines, Wednesday's group was almost entirely visual artists. One person also performs and another is a filmmaker.
A couple of needs the artists shared with me:
- leads on studio space
- help in clarifying their career goals
- where to go when you need legal advice
Fortunately, Artist Trust offers workshops and resources for most of these needs! If you weren't able to make it to this event, here are the details for the next presentation:
The red RSVP button will generate an email to me. Just tell me your name and how many people are coming to the event, and I'll reply with a confirmation. Hope to see you soon!
