I am a visual artist working in collage, assemblage sculpture and altered books. My practice explores identity, memory and the history of the African diaspora. Vintage and contemporary images collide to convey how the past informs the present.

No pressure. No pressure at all.

I sure hope Wangari Maathai has some helpful hints on how to handle the pressure of being a Nobel Peace Prize winner. Oy.

I love Obama, but I wish the Nobel committee had waited until he'd been in office at least a year. I mean, it's not like he doesn't have the American economy, health care reform, "post-racial" (uh, yeah) harmony to fix... have I missed something? No pressure.

You know when would've been the perfect time to award the Nobel? In year three of his presidency. "What are my qualifications? Let's see... Nobel Peace Prize on the mantel..."

Good Lord, I hope they've increased his Secret Service detail.

Good phone day
