BAMignite Photo Contest: it's not too late
Have you entered the BAMignite Photo Contest yet? You still have a few hours left!
The contest celebrates elements of the Bellevue Arts Museum biennial exhibit "High Fiber Diet." I'm so proud of myself: I only waited until a day before the deadline to enter this and one other photo.
The deadline is tomorrow, so here are the details:
All the photos will be projected during the BAMignite art party next Friday, November 16th. Unfortunately, I won't be able to go, but I'm definitely looking forward to finding out who the five contest winners are -- especially, of course, the Paper Cuts theme winner.
It's free and it's fun. Let me know which photos you're entering!

The deadline is tomorrow, so here are the details:
- Choose a photo that illustrates one of four themes: Paper Cuts, Threads, Twisted, or Made in My Town.
- Go to the Facebook contest page to submit the photo (you can do as many as four).
- BAM! You're done.

Thursday with LHPAC: Flamenco flourishes in Seattle
Isn't flamenco mesmerizing? The swirling dresses, the precise footwork...
It's even better in the video below -- but before you skip ahead to bliss out, check this out: Flamenco Gitana is teaching the Spanish art form to teens at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center this month.
Maestra Maria Gitana of Flamenco Gitana and her company took the stage during the ArtsCrush festival, dancing to live singing and accordion music. Now, each Thursday, the maestra is teaching flamenco to teens -- both the complex dance technique...
... as well as its centuries-old heritage, which began in southern Spain.
The dance workshop series culminates with students and professional dancers performing together at on December 15th. And good news -- it's not too late to sign up! Details:
WHEN: 3pm-5pm, today and every Thursday until December 13th (last class)
WHERE: Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center, 104 17th Ave. S., Seattle
COST: Free!
MORE INFORMATION: Flamenco Gitana and LHPAC
Got that written down? Awesome. And now, as promised... flamenco in motion. You may now bliss out.

My first solo show!
BIG news, everyone: I'm going to have a SOLO SHOW of my art work!
You remember the Arts of the Terrace group show from September? I had a great time at the reception, and giving away a print of "We See" to one of my fans. The merit prize I won was icing on the cake.
I also got a chance to talk to one of the arts commissioners, Judy Ryan, who's also a mixed media artist. (I love how the racehorse almost leaps off the canvas in her piece below.)
Judy was very encouraging -- she offered me the opportunity to show my work for a month in the Mountlake Terrace library! So look at the wall below:
Now replace those pieces with my art work. squeals with delight and a wee bit of terror
My exhibit will be during the month of May 2013. If you've recently had a solo show -- or even if solo shows are old hat to you -- I'd love to hear about your experiences on my Facebook page. Let's talk!
