Kent Summer Arts Exhibit: live, and on video too

City of Kent videographer: Hey, would you be willing to be interviewed about your work that's in the Kent Summer Arts Exhibit?

Me: Sure, why not?

This video is a lovely introduction to my work and why I do it. You can also see the works of Vikram Madan, Barbara Noonan, SIEGE and many others live and in person at Kent's Centennial Center Gallery. The video is now airing on the city of Kent's TV station and on Vimeo. So even if you can't see it in person -- and you really should, because the variety of art is AMAZING -- you can see it at home or online until the exhibit closes August 29th. (And yes, all the artworks are for sale.)

So many thanks to Steve Vaught, Edgar Riebe and Ronda Billerbeck at the City of Kent for this opportunity. And extra special thanks to jurors Humaira Abid and Joseph Steininger, who chose four of my pieces for this show!

"Like Mother": closing reception

All right, you've convinced me. You have one more chance to see the amazing artwork on display in "Like Mother" at SPACE at Magnuson Gallery.

No, really: The show closes this weekend. I'd like to invite you to the exhibit's closing reception. Details:

Visitors to the show have remarked on how much the themes resonate with them, from funny to poignant to wistful and everything in between. The Stranger recommends our show as well. Go, darling, go: you'll be so glad you went. I say this because a mother knows these things. (And because two of my pieces are in the show, but never mind that.) Go!

Work-in-progress: St. Felicia needs a halo

Earlier this week I touched up a few edges for St. Felicia... here's roughly where we are now.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen my faux holy woman (faux-ly woman?) in two of her saintly aspects.

She bears a sword, plus a shield emblazoned with seven-league boots -- appropriate for the patron saint of farewells. Next step: I'm going to set (each of) her on a pedestal and connect her to her "halo."

Still working on the color, but I'm much closer to done... maybe even by next week. Send concentration and studio time vibes this way!
